The Houthi group, Ansar Allah, announced on Sunday that they lost 10 of their members in an American strike and stated that they targeted a container ship with a missile attack. In a statement, they said: "While the naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces were carrying out their normal duties to establish security and stability and protect maritime navigation, in addition to fulfilling their humanitarian and moral obligations declared by Yemen to prevent Israeli ships or those heading to the ports of occupied Palestine from passing through the Red Sea in solidarity with the Palestinian people, the American enemy forces attacked three boats belonging to the Yemeni naval forces, which led to the martyrdom and loss of ten individuals from the naval forces."
The statement added: "As the Yemeni armed forces report the martyrdom of these heroes in the ongoing battle to support the Al-Aqsa flood for Palestine, they confirm that the American enemy bears the consequences of this crime and its repercussions and that its military movements in the Red Sea to protect Israeli ships will not prevent Yemen from fulfilling its religious, moral, and humanitarian duty in support of the oppressed in Palestine and Gaza."
They urged other countries not to engage in the dangerous American approach, as it could lead to negative consequences that might affect everyone. The statement continued: "The naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces successfully conducted a military operation targeting the container ship 'Maersk Hangzhou' that was heading to the ports of occupied Palestine, using appropriate naval missiles. This targeting operation came after the crew of the ship refused to respond to the warning calls from the Yemeni naval forces."
The statement concluded: "The Yemeni armed forces affirm what has been stated in their previous statements regarding preventing all Israeli ships or those heading to the ports of occupied Palestine from passing, while fully ensuring maritime traffic to all destinations except the Israeli entity."
