Fire Breaks Out at Ukraine's Largest Mining and Metallurgy Company

Ukrainian newspaper "Strana" reported a large-scale fire on Thursday at "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih," the largest mining and metallurgy company in Ukraine, due to an oil fire at a thermal power station. The newspaper stated through its Telegram channel, "In Kryvyi Rih, a large-scale fire broke out at Arcelor, and according to eyewitnesses at the facility, there was an oil fire in the turbo-generator of the thermal power station." "Strana" noted that at least three people have been injured according to initial reports. On June 23rd, the newspaper had reported the declaration of a state of emergency at a coking plant in Kryvyi Rih, where smoke clouds filled the sky. It is worth mentioning that "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" is Ukraine's largest mining and metallurgy enterprise, located in the city of Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The company's activities include the production of coke and chemicals, mining and processing, underground raw materials extraction, and metal production. It operates as part of the international company ArcelorMittal, the largest foreign investor in the country. The facility is designed to have a production capacity of over six million tons of steel annually, more than five million tons of rolled products, and over 5.5 million tons of cast iron.
