The United Arab Emirates is preparing to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris, with a delegation consisting of 14 male and female athletes, accompanied by 24 administrators, coaches, and therapists. They will compete in 5 sports: equestrian, judo, cycling, swimming, and athletics.
The UAE national equestrian team participating in the show jumping event includes Abdullah Hamid Al Mehairi, Abdullah Al Marri, Omar Al Marzouqi, Ali Al Karbi, and Salem Al Suwaidi. The national judo team represents 5 male athletes and 1 female athlete: Narmand Bayan in the under 66 kg category, Talal Shafili in the under 81 kg, Aram Grigoryan in the under 90 kg, Dhafir Aram in the under 100 kg, Omar Ma'ruf in the over 100 kg category, along with female athlete Bashirat Khroudi in the women's lightweight category under 52 kg.
Safiya Al Saigh, a member of the UAE national cycling team, will compete in the road race at the Paris Olympics, marking her as the first Emirati female athlete to qualify for the Olympics in cycling. Swimmer Youssef Rashid Al Matroushi will compete in the 100 meters freestyle, while swimmer Maha Abdullah Al Shahi will participate in the 200 meters freestyle. Additionally, Maryam Mohammed Al Farsi will represent our national athletics team in the 100 meters race.
It is anticipated that rider Omar Al Marzouqi will carry the flag of the United Arab Emirates during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on Friday evening, which will take place outside the stadium for the first time along the Seine River with around 160 boats.
