CNN published the testimony of one of the attendees at former President Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, which witnessed gunfire. Joseph Mine described the incident to CNN, stating: "When the shooting started, it felt like we were about to watch a fireworks show."
He added, "Some people in the back of the rally thought it was a joke, while others realized the situation was serious." Mine recounted seeing a man in the stands near him shot in the head, and another woman nearby hit in the arm. He further noted, "It was hard to tell from which direction the gunfire came. The police moved quickly to clear the stands."
President Joe Biden called for an end to political violence following the shooting incident, stating in televised remarks that Trump appeared to be fine. Biden emphasized, "There is no place in America for this kind of violence. It is disgusting. Everyone should condemn it."
For its part, Trump's campaign announced on Saturday that the Republican presidential candidate "is fine" and is being examined at a medical facility after being evacuated from the stage during the Pennsylvania rally due to the gunfire. Campaign spokesman Stephen Chong stated, "President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their swift action during this heinous act. Trump is fine and is being examined at a local medical facility."
