An unknown individual attempted to set fire to the Angoulême city hall building in France on Wednesday by pouring gasoline inside. According to the city's mayor, Xavier Bonnefont, the man parked his car at noon in front of the town hall, then entered heading towards the office of the elected officials’ assistants on the first floor. The unidentified man "managed to enter the town hall by breaking in."
The suspect poured gasoline mainly in a room adjacent to the officials' hall and tried to ignite it, but no one was harmed, as municipal police officers present on-site responded to the cries of the employees facing the man. Meanwhile, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin, on the platform "X", stated that the man was subdued by the municipal police using a firearm.
The 46-year-old French man was injured and was quickly treated by emergency services, while a search is being conducted at his home in Angoulême.
