"They Stabbed Me with a Knife"... Mother of the Two Sisters Who Committed Suicide in Egypt Reveals Last Moments

The Egyptian public prosecutor is still investigating the case of two sisters who committed suicide in the Al-Kawthar district of Sohag Governorate by jumping from the balcony of their apartment on the ninth floor of a residential tower within the jurisdiction of the Al-Kawthar police department in eastern Sohag. Notable in the investigations are the confessions of the elderly mother, who revealed that she had quarreled with them and that they had attacked her. The mother stated, "They stabbed me with a kitchen knife and caused me a laceration on my scalp and injuries to my hands... We were just having a heated discussion like any mother and her daughters... But it was God's will that I lose them together."

The mother explained that a verbal altercation erupted between her and her daughters, during which the sisters attacked her with a kitchen knife, resulting in a scalp laceration and injuries to her hands. They then jumped from the window of their apartment. The 70-year-old mother confirmed that her daughters suffer from mental illness and are psychologically unstable. This was also affirmed by their father and their paternal uncle. The family did not accuse anyone of pushing the sisters to commit suicide and denied the presence of any criminal suspicion in the incident, according to local media reports.

The incident occurred when the Sohag Security Directorate received a report about the fall of two sisters from the ninth floor of a residential building. Upon inspection and examination, it was confirmed that "Mai" (34 years old) and her sister "Hadeer" (22 years old) died from falling from their balcony. When questioning their mother Nadia, their father Hosny (74 years old), and their paternal uncle Reda (50 years old), it was revealed that the sisters suffered from mental illness.
