Nasrallah Preempts

It caught the attention of circles not far from the resistance axis that the Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, linked what the party considers to be the anticipated fourth victory (after the liberation in 2000, the victory in the July 2006 war, and the war in the outskirts against the takfiris) to the deterrent equations achieved by the resistance and the results of the front that he opened with Israel on October 8 under the title of "diversion and support for Gaza." It was noted that the Secretary-General of Hezbollah seemed to be preemptively addressing what some seek to consider as "cornering him" by removing the excuses for the party's continued position outside the state through urging the implementation of Resolution 1701 regarding ending the land dispute with Israel after the maritime one, by turning the equation and declaring "We will not squander such a gift" as long as the aspect related to the party in any dialogue or negotiation does not deviate from making the area south of Litani a zone free of visible weapons and any other formulas that do not involve concessions regarding the deep presence of the resistance in this area, according to what was reported in "Al-Rai" newspaper from Kuwait.

In contrast, circles opposed to Hezbollah viewed the opening of the door for negotiations after the Gaza war based on the application of Resolution 1701 as an indication of the party's apprehension regarding an Israeli adventure in the final stages of the Gaza war and its attempt to present itself as capable of being an insurance policy for peace in the south of Litani. They emphasized in this context his message to Israeli northern settlers that pressuring their government for military action against Lebanon is a wrong choice, stating, "The first to pay the price will be you and the northern settlements; the solution is for you to demand an end to the aggression on Gaza."

These circles did not overlook the possibility that this positive linkage regarding the post-Gaza war is connected to Iran's early attempt to network with the upcoming phase, which will intertwine issues and settlements, preemptively securing matters that fall under its strategic control and subsequently for transactions related to them.
