# "Shankah" and His Gang in the Grip of Security Forces!

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division, issued the following statement today, Wednesday: "As part of the daily monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to combat car thefts in various Lebanese areas, information was received by the International Theft Crimes Bureau in the Judicial Police Unit regarding a gang active in car thefts, particularly of 'Hyundai' and 'Kia' vehicles, which is based in the Al-Rawissah area. As a result of intensive investigations and cross-referencing with available information, the bureau's personnel were able to identify the gang members' identities and pinpoint the location of two of them, apprehending them following a raid at their residence in Al-Rawissah - Zai'tariyah. They are: B. R. (born in 1987, Syrian), and N. B. (born in 2006, Syrian).

Simultaneously, a force from the International Theft Crimes Bureau set a tight trap in the Al-Jdeideh area, resulting in the arrest of the gang leader known as J. R. (born in 2000, Syrian), nicknamed "Shankah." He was captured while in a passenger vehicle driven by H. F. (born in 1997, Lebanese), who was also arrested. A forged identity card used by the former for his movements was seized, along with a quantity of narcotics, including Salvia, Captagon, and Hashish.

Additionally, two individuals were arrested working for J. R. in the Hazmieh area, identified as A. H. (born in 1997, Lebanese) and G. A. (born in 2004, Syrian). During the investigation with "Shankah," he admitted to forming a gang for car theft and confessed to stealing more than 100 vehicles of 'Hyundai' and 'Kia' brands from Beirut and Mount Lebanon, and smuggling them into Syrian territories. He also revealed that he had started stealing cars abroad five years ago, moved to Lebanon, and continued his operations. The others also confessed to their involvement with the gang leader in multiple car thefts.

Legal procedures have been initiated against them based on the direction of the competent judiciary, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accomplices.”
