Flydubai Receives 7 Aircraft by Year-End and Hires 130 Pilots

Flydubai announced that it expects to receive seven new aircraft by the end of 2024, while planning to hire more than 130 new pilots by the end of this year, in addition to plans to establish new maintenance and training facilities that will positively impact its final profits.

In a press release today, the airline indicated that the new aircraft it will receive will support the expansion of its network, adding Basel, Riga, Tallinn, and Vilnius to its destinations.

Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, stated, "The number of employees in the company has increased to more than 5,800, representing 140 nationalities, including more than 1,200 pilots, and we are on track to hire more than 130 pilots by the end of this year."

Al Ghaith noted that the airline has hired over 440 employees this year, reflecting a growth of 6% over the previous year, and emphasized that "to support our growth trajectory, there is an ongoing recruitment campaign to add more qualified personnel and talents to the Flydubai team, including pilots, cabin crew, engineers, and other positions across various departments of the company."

He continued, "From our base in Dubai, Flydubai has expanded its network to over 125 destinations in 58 countries, serviced by a modern and efficient fleet consisting of 88 Boeing 737 aircraft."

Al Ghaith confirmed that Flydubai continues to attract more Emirati talent to the company, having recruited a new elite group of young Emirati professionals over the past two years, as part of its efforts to hire young Emiratis and enhance localization initiatives in the country by employing talented professionals in suitable roles across the company’s various departments.

He stated, "The airline is committed to developing and enhancing the capabilities of young Emiratis, encouraging them to work in the aviation sector by providing vocational training opportunities in various company departments, including several Emirati technicians and engineers in training, and offering special programs for both Emirati pilots and other staff to support future growth opportunities."

Additionally, Flydubai placed its first-ever order for 30 Boeing 787-9 aircraft during the Dubai Airshow in 2023.
