Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, a leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen, stated on Thursday that the United Nations decision regarding maritime security in the Red Sea is a "political game." He wrote on the platform X that "the United States is the one violating international law."
On Wednesday, the UN Security Council demanded that the Houthis in Yemen immediately cease attacks on ships in the Red Sea, implicitly supporting a US-led task force to protect vessels, and warned of escalating tensions.
Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi, head of the Supreme Revolutionary Committee of the group, also stated via X, "What the Yemeni armed forces are doing is within the framework of legitimate defense, and any action faced will have a reaction."
He called on the Security Council to immediately release 2.3 million people from the Israeli-American blockade, which he described as a deadly weapon, and noted that Gaza has become the largest prison where collective criminal punishment is being exercised.
The Houthis, who are allied with Iran and control vast areas of Yemen, threaten to attack ships linked to Israel or heading to Israeli ports in support of Palestinian Islamic resistance fighters (Hamas) in Gaza. However, many of the targeted vessels have no connection to Israel.
