The head of the Food Importers Syndicate, Hani Bahechli, confirmed that food supplies and goods are available for no less than 3 months in the event of an expanded war. Bahechli stated, "The issue is not with the management of the port or customs, but rather with overall coordination. We have requested that official administrations coordinate regarding the food supplies located in the port due to delays resulting from administrative red tape, as we fear potential targeting of the port and damage to existing goods. We do not want to repeat the scenario of the August 4 explosion." He continued, "We have noticed a positive response from the port administration to expedite operations, in addition to a statement from the Minister of Finance who insisted on swift action, and there has been general coordination with the relevant ministries to expedite this matter." He added, "We issued a reassuring statement after citizens flocked to supermarkets, but we hope they refrain from gathering and rushing, as there is no fear of food shortages at present, and the figures indicate that goods are available for no less than 3 months."
