A statement was issued by the office of Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, responding to news about an alleged offer made by him to militants in the Balata refugee camp in the West Bank, affirming that "such news is not true." The statement said: "The Prime Minister's office categorically denies the circulating news about an offer made to the militants in the Balata camp, and that the Prime Minister (Mohammad Mustafa) has neither met nor discussed such a matter with any party, and it is unprofessional to publish false news without a source and without attempting to verify it from the concerned party."
The statement added: "The Prime Minister places special importance on the camps, having visited the Jenin, al-Nour Shams, and Balata camps, and he emphasizes in all his visits and discussions with the residents and activities of the camp the need to support the resilience of our people in the camps in the face of the Israeli war and destruction machine. The Prime Minister coordinates with the Department of Refugee Affairs of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the popular committees of the camps and Arab funds to improve infrastructure and services."
The statement also mentioned: "The Prime Minister's office calls on various media outlets to communicate with the government communication center to collaborate in providing the necessary responses and information, as the government believes in transparency and constructive communication with the media." Social media circulated news about Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa's tour in Nablus city, claiming that he offered the militants in the Balata camp (east of Nablus) a deal to surrender their weapons and end the phenomenon of armed individuals in the camp in exchange for a monthly salary and integration into the Palestinian security forces.
