The Olympic Games are nearing their conclusion, but the Arabs have chosen a happy ending, achieving the largest tally of gold medals for Arabs in a single edition. Commenting on this unprecedented achievement, sports journalist Farouk Khalif said in an interview with the "Hagma Murtafa" program on "Sky News Arabia": "This edition of the Paris Olympics is the best in the history of Algerian participation, alongside the Atlanta edition in 1996. Algeria entered this competition with a degree of doubt about its ability to compete and reach the top ranks. Life is full of surprises, and what happened with Iman Khalif is a clear example of that. Olympic committees in all Arab countries must allocate budgets for each sport to cultivate champions."
The achievement that Algeria celebrated with two gold medals at Paris 2024 has not been accomplished before, as they obtained them, unlike in previous instances, in gymnastics and boxing, through the athletes Kilia Nmour in gymnastics and Iman Khalif in boxing. From Tunisia, Firas Qatousi claimed a gold medal in taekwondo at under 80 kg. Meanwhile, Bahrain earned a gold medal in the women's 3000 meters steeplechase through its athlete Wynfird Yafi. For Morocco, Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali won the gold medal in the men's 3000 meters steeplechase at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
