On Monday, the Iranian news agency "Tasnim" reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahiyan stated that his country could have executed a broader operation against Israel. He added in a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that Iran only targeted military sites that carried out the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. Abdullahiyan said, "The security of the region is very important to us," according to the Arab News Agency. Iran carried out its first direct attack on Israel last Saturday using dozens of drones and cruise missiles, following the killing of a senior commander of the "Revolutionary Guard" in an attack believed to have been Israeli, targeting the Iranian embassy complex in Damascus last week.
