Despite the calm that was imposed in the Hayderiya district following a bloody round of violence yesterday due to a tribal dispute over a piece of land that resulted in the death and injury of four individuals, the situation continues to unfold with further implications. The latest development involves accusations from one side of the conflict against the security leaders in the province, claiming they are "biased" in favor of one tribe against another.
The tribal conflict that erupted in Hayderiya between the Al-Abbas tribe and the Al-Sada Al-Amayel tribe led to the deaths of two individuals and injuries to two others, in addition to the burning of the homes of the perpetrators by the relatives of the deceased. The security forces, however, arrested only three individuals despite the significant scale of the conflict.
Members of the Al-Sada Al-Amayel tribe appeared in a video accusing the Najaf police chief and the Hayderiya police director of colluding with the other tribe. One of the clerics from the Al-Sada Al-Amayel tribe stated that the other tribe has deputies and police officers, and due to relationships and bribery, the security leadership in the province colluded with the other tribe against them.
He explained that the problem began over a week ago and resulted in the death of one of their members, but the police leadership in Najaf and Hayderiya did not intervene. He called upon the religious authority in Najaf to intervene in the matter.
There have also been reports in local circles about the dismissal and arrest of the Hayderiya police director due to collusion with the other tribe against one side of the dispute, although Alsumaria News could not verify either claim.
