The International Football Federation "FIFA" announced its monthly rankings for national teams for June 2024 today, Thursday. Argentina maintained its top position in the rankings since December 2022 after winning the Qatar World Cup, with France following closely in second place. The Argentine team aims to break the historical record set by its rival Brazil, which remained at the top of the global ranking from 1994 to 2001, by continuing their winning streak in friendly matches and official competitions during the Copa America and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
In this month's ranking, Brazil advanced one position to occupy fourth place, while both England and Italy experienced a decline. Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Spain remained static in their ranking positions announced by FIFA. Uruguay moved up one spot to 14th, Germany is at 16th, Japan advanced to 17th, and Senegal dropped one position to 18th. Morocco maintained its lead among African teams, advancing one place in the global ranking to 12th from 13th. Egypt came in third in FIFA's African ranking, making a slight global advance from 37th to 36th.
FIFA's ranking also saw Saudi Arabia drop three positions to 56th globally. The Saudi team played two matches at the beginning of this month against Pakistan, winning, but lost to Jordan at home. Qatar's Asian Cup champion team dropped one position to 35th globally, while Jordan advanced three spots in the new ranking to 68th.
