At least 94 people have lost their lives and more than 137,000 have been displaced due to floods caused by heavy rainfall in Niger since June. Media reported comments from Aïssa Lawan Wandarma, the Minister of Humanitarian Action in Niger, stating that "the floods have destroyed more than 15,000 homes and about forty classrooms, and have led to the death of 15,472 livestock." The capital, Niamey, which had previously been spared, has also been affected, with at least four fatalities and several injuries reported, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
