The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced in a statement that "as part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat theft operations across various Lebanese regions, especially those related to motorbikes and 'tuk-tuk' vehicles, information was obtained by members of the Zahle Judicial Detachment in the Judicial Police Unit regarding the increase in such crimes in the city of Zahle - the Hanging. As a result of the follow-up, suspicions arose around one of the suspects in the city of Zahle, identified as: J.K. (born in 2002, Syrian). On 06/06/2024, a patrol from the detachment went to his place of residence and detained him. During the investigation, he confessed to stealing three motorbikes, two of which were of the 'tuk-tuk' type, on different dates. He also stated that he sold them to a certain M.A. (born in 2000, Lebanese), who has a criminal record and is wanted for theft crimes. On the same date, after luring him out by members of the detachment, they successfully ambushed and arrested him in the Ali Nahri area while he was riding a stolen motorbike from Antelias. During the investigation, he confessed to the accusations related to purchasing the stolen motorbikes and selling them to a certain A.A. (born in 2000, Lebanese), who is currently at large. Legal measures were taken against both J.K. and M.A., and they, along with the motorbike, were handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation, and a search and arrest warrant was issued for A.A."
