The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Tuesday: "As part of the ongoing monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crime, pursue wanted individuals, and arrest them. On 22/02/2024, during an investigation carried out by the Anti-Terrorism and Major Crimes Bureau - North, regarding the discovery of two hand grenades in an apartment in the town of Dahr al-Ain, information was obtained by the bureau regarding a resident of the building where the grenades were found. This individual was suspected of engaging in dubious activities, including drug trafficking, and the possession of weapons and ammunition. On 23/02/2024, after surveillance and monitoring, a unit from the bureau managed to arrest him in a well-planned ambush in Dahr al-Ain. He was identified as: - M. A. K. (born in 1994, Egyptian). A search of his car and home led to the discovery of:
• 24 capsules of cocaine, and an empty syringe
• Approximately 3 kg of cannabis
• 437 Rivotril pills without packaging
• 10 sealed Rivotril packages, each containing 30 pills
• 3 Tramal packages containing 90 pills
• 1 Zolam envelope "2" mg, containing 9 pills
• An "AK-47" rifle, and a pouch containing 7 magazines, and 286 rounds of live ammunition
• An estimated sum of 5,500 USD, and about 15,000,000 Lebanese pounds.
In a related context, the Anti-Terrorism and Major Crimes Bureau - Bekaa, within the same unit, suspected two individuals in a "Volvo" car in Zahle - Al-Manara. They were identified as: - A. S. (born in 2000, Lebanese) - R. G. (born in 2000, Lebanese). Upon searching the vehicle, the bureau's personnel found a bag containing approximately 15 grams of marijuana, a grinder for it, rolling papers, 3 Tramal sedative pills, 2 syringes, and 42 sedative pills. Legal procedures were taken against all detainees, and they were handed over along with the confiscated items to the regional drug control offices in the north and Bekaa for further investigation, based on the directive of the competent judiciary."
