An incident occurred this morning, Friday, at the Corniche Al-Mazraa near the Jamal Abdel Nasser Mosque, accompanied by heavy gunfire. Reports indicate that there were injuries among passersby.

It was reported that the Lebanese Army Intelligence pursued a suspect from Cola to Karantina after he shot at an intelligence officer and two civilians. It is rumored that the army intelligence had set up an ambush for the individual believed to be involved in illegal activities, who was with an unidentified woman in a Range Rover. Upon reaching the ambush, he attempted to run over the security personnel and managed to escape.

According to special information, the individuals named Dr. Aziz Al-Din and Abu Shibli were the ones being pursued by army intelligence. Intelligence elements chased the wanted individual and engaged with him near the Abdel Nasser Mosque at the Corniche Al-Mazraa, continuing to follow him to the Karantina area, passing through Al-Adliyah and Souk Al-Ahad, where he was arrested and detained, and a large bag in his possession was confiscated.

During the pursuit by the Directorate of Intelligence in the Cola-Beyrouth area of a vehicle holding a gang of Syrians involved in fraud and impersonation of security personnel, the driver ran over elements of the patrol and several civilians in an attempt to flee, forcing the personnel to fire into the air and at the vehicle, resulting in the detention of several members of the gang.

The army commented on the incident on its "X" account, stating: "During a pursuit by the Directorate of Intelligence in the Cola-Beyrouth area of a vehicle holding a gang of Syrians involved in fraud and impersonation of security personnel, the driver ran over elements of the patrol and several civilians in an attempt to flee, forcing the personnel to fire into the air and at the vehicle. Several members of the gang were arrested. Investigations with the detained individuals have commenced under the supervision of the competent judiciary, and efforts continue to apprehend the remaining involved parties."
