Chinese-Arab Relations Are at Their Best

Chinese and Arab diplomats and politicians have emphasized that Chinese-Egyptian and Chinese-Arab relations are experiencing their best period and enjoy significant potential, considering them a "successful model of collective relations." They noted that China is a "good companion" and a "major partner" for Arab countries, underscoring strong Arab support for the One China principle. This was stated during a seminar recently held by the Chinese embassy in Cairo titled "Shared Future and Walking in Accord," marking the tenth anniversary of the signing of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between China and Egypt and the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.

Chinese Ambassador to Cairo Liao Liqiang confirmed during the seminar that cooperation between Egypt and China has achieved fruitful results and tremendous accomplishments over the past decade. He pointed out the "rapid development of the comprehensive strategic partnership" between China and Egypt over the past decade, describing the coming decade of bilateral relations as "golden." The Chinese diplomat noted that since 2012, China has become Egypt's largest trading partner for 12 consecutive years, stressing that cooperation between the two countries is leaning towards emerging strategic areas such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence, new energy, and space, moving towards high-quality development, mutual benefits, and shared gains. He highlighted that communication and mutual understanding have strengthened between the two countries over the past decade, leading to an increased interest in Chinese culture in Egypt and the inclusion of the Chinese language in the Egyptian curriculum.

For his part, Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Ahmed Shaheen affirmed Egypt's commitment and openness to enhancing relations with China, noting that the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement serves as the overarching framework for the bilateral relationship. Shaheen indicated during the seminar that the exchange of presidential visits has contributed to achieving a "qualitative leap" in overall relations between Egypt and China, reaffirming that Egypt has always been, and will remain, a strong supporter of the One China principle and supports China internationally.

Additionally, Hazem Omar, head of the Republican People's Party and head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Egyptian Senate, stated that Egyptian-Chinese relations have witnessed fruitful cooperation across various fields over the past decade. He considered China a major partner for Egypt, and that the prospects for cooperation remain wide open between the two countries, which can achieve more across various sectors. He noted that Egypt will spare no effort to enhance relations with China under the Belt and Road Initiative, which builds a shared future for both countries, praising Chinese support for Egypt in the developmental sphere.

Moreover, Member of the Egyptian House of Representatives Tarek El Khouli affirmed the strength and robustness of Egyptian-Chinese relations, which are founded on coordination and mutual cooperation on all issues. He pointed out that Egypt has always confirmed the One China principle and appreciates Chinese initiatives such as the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Security Initiative as important foundations supporting international peace.

On the topic of Chinese-Arab cooperation, Ambassador Liao noted that "Chinese-Arab relations are at their best and enjoy significant potential, and we must continue to deepen mutual strategic trust and strongly support each other in safeguarding core interests." He clarified that China has signed cooperation documents concerning the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" Initiative with all Arab countries and the Arab League. He mentioned that China and Arab countries have implemented more than 200 major cooperation projects within the framework of the joint construction of the "Belt and Road," benefiting nearly two billion people from both sides. He expressed confidence that Chinese-Egyptian relations and Chinese-Arab relations will witness a "golden decade" ahead.

For her part, Minister Plenipotentiary Hala Gad, Director of the Information and Documentation Department at the Arab League, considered China to be a "good companion" for Arabs. She emphasized that the relations between the two sides are a successful model of collective relations, noting that Chinese-Arab movement is unprecedented and its results are commendable. She viewed the establishment of the Arab-China Cooperation Forum as an achievement in itself, serving as an important framework for cooperation and collective dialogue, and as a significant mechanism for building an Arab-Chinese partnership based on a win-win principle. She pointed out that the forum has played a noticeable role in transforming relations from a traditional form to a comprehensive institutional one, describing the "Belt and Road" Initiative as one of the most important major strategic initiatives of the 21st century, which has positive repercussions on development programs in Arab countries. She confirmed the Arab League's commitment to the One China principle and support for it, noting that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China.
