The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Unit announced today, Friday, in a statement that "several incidents of car tire thefts from parked cars in the Hamra area – Beirut have recently occurred, carried out by unknown individuals. Media and social media circulated these thefts, surprising local residents.
After monitoring and surveillance, the Information Branch of the Internal Security Forces arrested two thieves in Hamra who had stolen tires from several cars.
Immediately, the Information Branch initiated its procedures at the sites of the thefts. As a result of continued monitoring and intelligence efforts, the identities of the perpetrators were determined:
- F. M. (born in 1994, Syrian)
- Sh. M. (born in 2002, Syrian)
They both have previous records for theft crimes.
On July 20, 2024, after precise surveillance, the special force of the branch managed to arrest the two mentioned individuals in the same area. During the investigation, they confessed to their involvement in conducting tire theft operations at different times, after midnight, in the Hamra area, and indicated that they used a white "Swoot" motorcycle and a silver "BMW" in the thefts. They were selling the stolen tires in the Sabra area.
Legal action was taken against them, and they were referred to the relevant authority, based on the directives of the concerned judiciary."
