Diyala: 16 Children Rescued Following Fire at Maternity Hospital

The Civil Defense Directorate in Diyala Province confirmed the rescue of 16 premature infants after extinguishing a fire inside the delivery room of Al-Baladruz General Hospital. The directorate stated in a report that "16 children were rescued from incubators for premature infants, and the fire incident was put out without any human losses."

Furthermore, it was noted that the civil defense requested to open an investigation at the police station responsible for the area and summoned a forensic expert to determine the initial causes of the fire inside the hospital.

Earlier today, the Health Directorate of Diyala announced the control of a fire in the delivery room of Al-Baladruz General Hospital in the province. The Director of Media for Diyala Health, Fares Al-Izzawi, stated in a conversation with "Baghdad Today," that "a fire broke out in a small delivery room in Al-Baladruz General Hospital east of Diyala early today," confirming that "it was controlled within less than half an hour without any human losses."

He added that "the official report from the civil defense confirmed that an electrical short circuit was behind the outbreak of the fire," denying "speculations about the causes of the fire." The Director-General of Diyala Health was also supervising the damage assessment and directly following the firefighting operation.

He mentioned that "the fire was contained within a very limited space and did not disrupt health services in Al-Baladruz Hospital," noting that "the rapid response to the event contributed to minimizing material damage."
