Beirut Governor Marwan Abboud issued a statement to the owners of residential apartments in Beirut, stating: "As part of national solidarity and cooperation in facing the repercussions of the Israeli assaults on the South and its towns for the tenth consecutive month, and since this aggressive war targeting Lebanon requires the Lebanese to unite and support one another, we salute all those who sympathized and opened their homes to the displaced. We urge everyone to be mindful of the circumstances and not to exploit them by raising rent prices or imposing conditions, as is befitting of brotherhood and citizenship." He added: "In the event that some apartment owners exploit the situation of the displaced and rent their properties at prices higher than their actual rental value, the Beirut Municipality will adopt that inflated price as a standard for the rental value of the leased apartment in case the property is occupied by the owner, in accordance with the provisions of the municipal fees and surcharges law."
