Meloni Urges Iran to Avoid Escalation in the Middle East

The Italian government stated today, Thursday, that "Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni asked Iranian President Masoud Bezhikian in a phone call to avoid escalation in the Middle East." The office of the Italian Prime Minister noted that during the phone call, Meloni "emphasized the necessity to prevent the expansion of the ongoing conflict in Gaza, including a reference to Lebanon, and urged the Iranian president to avoid further escalation and reopen the path to dialogue."
