Mashal's Speech: Why Does Hamas Aim to Ignite Chaos in Jordan?

Calls for incitement from Hamas within Jordan have been increasing, amidst American reports discussing the role of the Muslim Brotherhood in this agitation. In his video address during a women's event in the Jordanian capital, Amman, Khaled Mashal, the head of Hamas abroad, urged millions to take to the streets in what he referred to as a sustainable manner. This raises questions regarding Hamas's calculations about the Jordanian street, and analysts have deemed Mashal's speech as another explicit invitation from the movement to expand the chaos in the region.

Mashal stated that "the masses of the nation must engage in the battle of Flood of Al-Aqsa," asserting that "the blood of this nation must mix with the blood of the people of Palestine to attain honor and resolve this conflict in our favor, with God's permission." He described the Flood of Al-Aqsa battle as "historic and decisive," emphasizing that "resistance is thriving despite the brutality of the fight," and despite the "severe pain" of what is happening in Gaza, "this motivates us even more to engage in battle."

Mashal's speech followed a visit by a Hamas delegation to Tehran. Additionally, accounts associated with the military media of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, re-shared an audio clip from the Brigades' leader, Mohammed Deif, calling on Muslim peoples to march towards Palestine, saying: "Do not let borders, regimes, or restrictions prevent you from the honor of jihad and participating in the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque."
