The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced today, Monday, that Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, in the southern part of the strip, is now out of service, calling on the international community to make efforts to restore its operation and provide protection for health institutions. The ministry stated in a statement that the shutdown of Nasser Hospital "is a severe blow to health services, which have already been reduced to their lowest levels, depriving patients of access to healthcare services, especially after most services in the north of the strip have been lost."
Last week, Palestinian news agency reported that Israeli forces raided the Nasser Medical Complex in western Khan Younis and detained a number of medical staff and displaced individuals, indicating that these forces opened fire on displaced young men after ordering them to evacuate the complex.
The Israeli army announced today that it has completed "precise field operations" at the Shifa Hospital in Gaza, where an Israeli army helicopter targeted a fortified compound from which Palestinian fighters were monitoring Israeli troops. A military statement said that its forces and the Shin Bet completed operations in the area of Shifa Hospital and exited the hospital area. The forces killed Palestinian fighters in close confrontations and seized various weapons and intelligence documents throughout the hospital, while preventing harm to civilians, patients, and medical teams.
In central Gaza, an Israeli army helicopter, directed by Israeli forces, bombed a military compound used by Hamas fighters to monitor Israeli troops, along with an additional military compound belonging to Hamas.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health in Gaza stated on Monday that the Israeli army withdrew from the medical complex that includes Shifa Hospital in the besieged strip after days of conducting a large-scale military operation in the site. The ministry reported that dozens of bodies were recovered from inside the medical complex and its surroundings. However, the Israeli army, which described its operation at the complex as "precise" and targeting Hamas militants, did not immediately confirm any withdrawal.
Palestinian radio reported, citing civil defense, that around 300 corpses were found in the Shifa Medical Complex and its vicinity in Gaza following the withdrawal of Israeli forces. Al-Aqsa TV reported that dozens of bodies were discovered in and around the Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City after the withdrawal of Israeli forces. The television noted that Israeli military vehicles withdrew from the area around the complex towards the southwest of Gaza City, stating that the vehicles fired heavily during their withdrawal.
The television stated that emergency committees warned citizens not to rush to check on the situation at Shifa Hospital for fear of ambushes and snipers in the vicinity of the complex. The Times of Israel reported today that the Israeli army announced the death of a non-commissioned officer in battles in southern Gaza yesterday. It added that the number of army casualties has risen to 256 soldiers since the start of the ground operation in Gaza.
Furthermore, Hamas reported that Israeli forces are present at the Nasser Hospital complex in southern Gaza, while the Palestinian Red Crescent stated that operations were ongoing at the Al-Amal Hospital, also located in the southern region. Meanwhile, the Israeli army stated via X platform that an air force plane "targeted an operational command center belonging to the Jihad movement and terrorists stationed in the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Hospital in the Deir al-Balah area." It added, "After this precise strike, the building of Al-Aqsa Hospital was not damaged, and its function was not affected."
