Egyptian comedian and media figure Bassem Youssef responded today, Tuesday, to an account affiliated with the Israeli government on the platform X with the phrase "I have returned to stay and continue my journey." Youssef, asking in a post from a new account (@bassem_youssef9) he launched today after his previous account with 11 million followers was deleted, questioned, "Did I bother you?" Followers of Youssef were surprised early today when his old account was suspended after he posted a question regarding anti-Semitism, wondering if the accusation of anti-Semitism still scares people, especially after millions around the world realized how that accusation has been used to silence voices. Moments later, Youssef's account was banned from the famous tweeting platform.
However, the Egyptian media figure quickly created a new account, confirming that he would not be silenced about the atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza. He emphasized that attempts to intimidate and silence him would not succeed. He tweeted: "They are trying to intimidate me and stop me, trying to erase the opinion they cannot respond to... these attempts push me to be more determined and make me know that my opinions and my cause are the right ones, while theirs is the losing and unjust cause."
