HUSBAND KILLS WIFE AND BURIED HER IN GARDEN WITH A CHAINSAW

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement today, Saturday: "As part of the daily monitoring carried out by the Internal Security Forces to reduce crimes across various Lebanese regions and pursue the perpetrators, the Information Division received information regarding foul odors emanating from a citizen's house in the town of Miyah Miyah - Sidon. Immediately, one of the division's patrols was assigned to visit the mentioned house. Upon inspecting the source of the odors, parts of a body were found in a black bag buried in a hole in the backyard. The relevant units within the division began procedures to identify the victim and investigate the shocking details of the murder. The husband shot his wife twice due to a dispute, then cut her body with a chainsaw and buried her in the garden. The Information Division arrested him and seized the murder weapon.

As a result of the immediate follow-up, it was determined that the body belonged to a woman named (S. J., born in 1964, American nationality), who had previously been reported missing by her children living in America. An investigation was conducted at that time, and her husband, identified as (J. J., born in 1963, Lebanese nationality), was summoned and stated that his wife had left the house for an unknown place.

Through the investigative and field efforts of the division's patrols in the mentioned town and hearing testimonies from witnesses in the vicinity of the victim's residence, information emerged indicating disputes between (J. J.) and his wife, as well as her disappearance without him reporting it, which raised suspicions about his involvement in her murder. On April 16, 2024, one of the division's patrols raided his home, arrested him, and found a military handgun with a magazine and nine usable bullets. Additionally, the remaining parts of the body were extracted from two other holes in the same garden.

Upon examining the body by a forensic doctor, it was found that she had suffered two gunshot wounds to the head. During the investigation with the suspect, he confessed that on February 10, 2024, a dispute occurred between him and his wife, during which he shot at her with the handgun found in the house, striking her twice in the head. He then left the body in the house for two days before enlisting a laborer under the pretense of planting trees in the garden, asking him to dig three holes. Subsequently, he purchased a chainsaw, cut the body into pieces, placed them in trash bags, and buried them in the holes, misleading his children to believe that their mother had left the house for an unknown destination. He then blocked her from their phone to convince them that she did not want to communicate with them. After that, he disposed of the chainsaw in a waste container and cleaned the house to erase evidence of his crime. The necessary legal action was taken against him, and he and the seized items were deposited with the competent authority based on the judiciary's directive."
