Lebanon: Arrest of Wanted Individuals for Theft and Robbery

The Army Command - Directorate of Guidance reported that, "As part of the pursuit of perpetrators of theft and robbery in various areas, the Intelligence Directorate carried out raids and arrests in the town of Brital - Baalbek and the Hay al-Sellim area - Southern Suburbs, and arrested three individuals as follows:

A raid on the home of the wanted citizen (A.T.) in the town of Brital led to his arrest for forming a gang to steal cars, transport them to the Beqaa Governorate, and then smuggle them into Syrian territory. He has several arrest warrants for shooting at an army patrol and for car theft.

A raid on the home of the wanted citizen (M.T.) in the town of Brital resulted in his arrest for committing crimes including: kidnapping citizens, including (A.M.), armed robbery, trafficking in counterfeit currency and stolen cars, and firing a weapon. A stolen vehicle was seized in his possession.

The arrest of citizen (A.J.) in the Hay al-Sellim area – Southern Suburbs was made for committing robbery and theft by force, and for appearing in videos on social media while robbing citizens, in addition to instigating conflicts and firing weapons on different dates, as well as drug use. He confessed to committing about 120 robbery incidents, 80 of which occurred on the airport road.

The seized items were handed over, and investigations with the detainees commenced under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities."
