Environmental activist Fadia Jumaa and the "Hamra al-Mansouri" team launched the first batch of juvenile loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta) at the Hamra beach, in collaboration with the Mansouri town scout troop of the Islamic Message Scouts Association and several environmental activists. The event was attended by dozens of local citizens and media representatives to document the occasion. Jumaa emphasized that "the aim of the release in the presence of citizens is to raise awareness among the local community, which bears the responsibility of protecting turtles and preserving biodiversity." She highlighted the "importance of maintaining a clean sandy beach free of encroachments, as it is originally a habitat for marine turtles to come and lay their eggs in nests on the beach every year." Jumaa noted that "in partnership with the Message Scouts Association and several environmental activists, they will monitor the sea turtle nesting season during the summer of 2024, along with environmental awareness and cleaning campaigns for the Hamra al-Mansouri beach, which hosts nests for two species of sea turtles: the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) and the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta)."
