Halima Boland's Photo Behind Bars Causes Wide Controversy

Social media activists have circulated a photo of Kuwaiti media figure Halima Boland behind bars after her arrest on charges of immorality and indecency, sparking extensive debate among followers. Some have questioned the authenticity of the image, asserting that it is "fake," while others have confirmed its legitimacy. The Kuwaiti criminal investigation team arrested Halima Boland, who was sentenced to two years in prison for inciting immorality and indecency, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Kuwaiti media figure Mai Al-Eidan posted the controversial image of her fellow citizen Halima Boland behind bars on her personal Instagram account, commenting: "The arrest of media figure Halima Boland and her referral to the central prison is in execution of the two-year prison sentence against her... the law is above all, especially in the era of Emir Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may he live long."

Al-Eidan questioned how Boland was photographed behind bars and how the image spread across social media, stating: "But the question is, who took the photo, or how did it reach social media? I was shocked, or is the photo old?" She wished for Boland's release, saying: "May God alleviate her troubles because she is a mother after all; there is no power nor strength except with God. O Allah, protect us above the ground, below the ground, and at the presentation."

Opinions varied regarding the dissemination of the photo, whether it was real, old, or modified by image editing software like Photoshop, and no security sources or close acquaintances of Halima Boland have confirmed the authenticity of the image. The local news account "Al-Majlis" on X stated that the security forces who apprehended Boland referred her to the central prison in compliance with the court ruling. It clarified that the security forces set a trap for Boland after she had been missing for several days in the Al-Adan area. The court ruling regarding Boland's imprisonment is related to a legal dispute and accusations of incitement to immorality and indecency through photos and videos.
