Israel has managed to assassinate an officer of the Revolutionary Guard within Iranian territory, according to what was broadcasted yesterday evening by the London-based channel "Iran International," which is aligned with the Iranian opposition. The channel reported that the officer "was involved in attacks on Jewish centers in Germany," but did not provide additional details about the assassination or the party responsible for it.
An attack was foiled last December in a joint operation conducted by the Mossad and the Shin Bet, along with Danish authorities, which led to the arrest of seven activists linked to Hamas in Europe, according to the report. Three suspects were arrested in Berlin, three in Denmark, and one in the Netherlands.
According to reports in Germany, those arrested in Berlin include an Egyptian and two Lebanese. The local police raided a weapons stash that the suspects intended to use to carry out attacks on Jewish institutions in the city. Weapons were also confiscated during October following the attack on October 7.
German reports two years ago indicated that authorities suspect the Revolutionary Guard was behind three attempts to attack Jewish temples in the country, all of which occurred on the same night in cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. These included gunfire at a Jewish synagogue in Essen, an incident that did not result in injuries, the throwing of Molotov cocktails at a school adjacent to the synagogue in Bochum, and a plan to set fire to a synagogue in Dortmund.
