Messages congratulating workers on their holiday on May 1st have been pouring in. In a statement on the occasion of International Workers' Day, President Saad Hariri wrote on his personal account on the "X" platform: "The real Labor Day is in a country that preserves their dignity with rights and social and health guarantees. We are all workers in the workshop of rebuilding Lebanon, justice, and equality. Happy Labor Day to all workers in Lebanon."
In a similar context, Minister of Industry in the caretaker government, Deputy George Bushikian, congratulated workers on their day, especially in the industrial family. He stated: "We test day by day the sanctity of work and the worker, and how much societies need their sons and their participation in the building, reconstruction, and modernization process. The worker is a positive transformative force, a mover and developer of what exists. He does not settle for little, despite receiving little. He deserves more and better. He embodies sacrifice and giving. He works quietly for the public good. Workers are the strength and the added value of any achievement that cannot be realized without their thoughts and efforts in the field."
Deputy Haacob Tarzyan also saluted the Lebanese worker on his day, saying in a statement today: "Every year on May 1st we celebrate Labor Day, and every year the economic conditions deteriorate from bad to worse, and the living challenges increase, and the reason is clear and everyone knows it, but it is a long story. Yes, there has been systematic and deliberate destruction of all productive sectors from agriculture to industry, and finally the banking sector, reaching the tourism sector which is suffering greatly. On your day, you, honorable and experienced Lebanese workers, who are being competed against by illegal workers to push you into emigration, I say clearly: no matter how long it takes, your right to live with dignity in your country will surely come, and your experience and skills are added value to your country and the world. Supporting local products and enhancing productive sectors remains the only solution to improve the economic situation by reducing the trade deficit."
On the occasion of Labor Day, Minister of Communications Johnny Karam wrote via the "X" platform, saying: "To every worker in the Ministry of Communications and Postal Services and in Ogero and the mobile companies Touch and Alfa, thank you for your endless dedication and ongoing sacrifices. You deserve all the appreciation and respect for what you offer to the sector and to Lebanon in these difficult circumstances. Happy Labor Day, and you are the giving and source of strength and inspiration."
Major General Abbas Ibrahim sent his greetings to workers on their day, writing on his social media accounts: "On Labor Day, a salute to the diligent, patient, and steadfast workers striving for a livelihood in Lebanon and abroad in these tough times. With the sweat of their brows, they wash the world’s face, and on their shoulders, they carry the land and protect humanity with their arms, securing the borders of the homeland. To the workers of Lebanon and the world, may you always be well."
