Today, Monday, the famous "Engagement Season" kicks off in the area of "Imilchil" in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The event attracts the attention of thousands of local and foreign visitors to witness a collective marriage contract among the sons and daughters of the region, a longstanding tradition believed to date back to the 18th century.
The 17th edition of the Engagement Season and the High Music Festival is organized by the "Akhayam" Association in partnership with the councils of "Bouzmou" and "Imilchil," under the slogan "Our Intangible Heritage Drives Local Development." According to the association's statement, this cultural event aims to highlight the national musical heritage and allows the audience to appreciate the folk art of the High Atlas, noting that it is "a unique opportunity to celebrate high music in all its forms and to instill new memories among the youth."
This event, which will last for three days, will feature a collective marriage ceremony infused with lively songs and music alongside popular dances and traditional colorful attire. Additionally, the festival area will allow visitors to explore designated spaces for vendors, who come from all corners of Morocco, as well as an exhibition showcasing local products from nearly 120 cooperatives aimed at fostering significant commercial activity in the region.
