Real Madrid has declined to accept the La Liga trophy and organize celebrations during the match against Granada next Saturday at the Nuevo Los Cármenes stadium, as part of the 35th round of the league. The team secured the La Liga title officially for the 36th time in the previous round after Barcelona's 4-2 loss to Girona. According to the Spanish newspaper "Marca," La Liga decided to present Real Madrid with the Spanish league trophy against Granada. However, this decision did not sit well with Real Madrid, which requested to postpone the trophy presentation to May 14 against Deportivo Alavés. Real Madrid felt it would be inappropriate to coincide their celebrations with the likely relegation of Granada in the next round, thus making the situation a sad occasion for the Andalusian team. The club may celebrate the La Liga title on Sunday in the streets of Madrid, as players are expected to ride an open-top bus to the Cibeles fountain.
