The "Strong Lebanon" bloc held its regular meeting today, Tuesday, chaired by MP Gebran Bassil, where they discussed their agenda and issued the following statement:
1. In light of the Israeli threat to wage war on Rafah and the race between the truce and war, the need to neutralize Lebanon from the war in Gaza and to separate the presidential elections from external events becomes evident.
2. The lack of agreement on a presidential candidate and the refusal to hold an open election session render the stagnation in the presidential process a cause of deepening collapse, disrupting balance, and dismantling institutions.
3. The tour that the bloc's MPs began by visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EU embassy will continue with meetings with the Speaker of the House, the caretaker Prime Minister, and the Cypriot embassy, along with field movements, emphasizing the bloc's determination to find solutions that prohibit the settlement of displaced persons in Lebanon by reducing the presence of the illegal ones.
4. The Free Patriotic Movement holds the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Souheil Aboud, responsible for the deliberate negligence in ensuring the proper functioning of justice and the application of laws, as well as acting vindictively with some judges and overlooking major violations committed by senior judges in the port crime and financial crimes. The bloc calls for activating judicial inspection against any judge negligent in financial cases and demands that the Minister of Finance sign the decree for the formation of heads of chambers in the Court of Cassation to complete the general assembly of the Court authorized to decide on requests for recusal in the port case and financial files.
