Iran Prepares to Launch 6 to 8 Satellites

The head of the Iranian Space Organization, Hassan Salari, has announced the date for Iran's first launch from the "Chabahar" space base. In a press conference, Salari said, "In the past three years, efforts have been made to complete the infrastructure projects in Iran's space industry, the most important of which is the Chabahar space base, whose land has been under the control of the Space Organization for 10 years... The operational plans for the base will proceed in three phases, with the first phase starting by the end of this year, during which the first space launch will be carried out."

He added, "Iran plans to launch between 6 to 8 satellites into space this year, including satellites: 'Kavsar,' 'Zafar-2,' and 'Tolou-3.' Work is also underway to develop the 'Nahid-3,' 'Pars-2,' and an upgraded version of the 'Pars-1' satellite, in addition to two radar satellites."

Salari pointed out that "the Iranian Space Organization also plans this year to create a space monitoring system, a launch base, complete the Selmas and Shahran ground stations, and design and build a maritime station related to the development of space infrastructure."

He explained that "part of the program of the Iranian Space Organization involves launching a tender for the second phase and completing the design and construction of quality samples for the narrowband 'IOT' system for the country's satellite system called the 'Martyr General Qassem Soleimani' system. The program also includes supplying experimental satellites through the design and manufacturing of research satellites 4, 5, and 6, and purchasing local satellite images by contracting with the precise satellite system through the private sector."
