Video - Vandalism at a World Heritage Site

The British police have announced the arrest of two climate protesters for spraying orange paint on the ancient Stonehenge monument in southern England. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak immediately condemned the act by the group "Just Stop Oil," calling it a "shameful act of vandalism."

The incident occurred just one day before thousands were to gather at the 4,500-year-old stone circle to celebrate the summer solstice, the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. English Heritage, which manages the site, stated that the act is "extremely distressing," and added that site officials are investigating the damage.

For its part, the environmental organization noted on social media that the paint is made from corn starch and will dissolve in the rain. According to Wiltshire police, the two men were arrested on suspicion of damaging one of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
