The statement from the Bahrain summit emphasized the necessity of the Israeli army's withdrawal from Gaza and the lifting of the blockade on the strip, highlighting the need to enable "UNRWA" to operate and provide financial support. The statement from the 33rd Arab summit held in the Bahraini capital Manama stated: "At the kind invitation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Arab leaders convened for the 33rd ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the summit level (Bahrain Summit), chaired by the King of Bahrain, affirming the bonds of brotherhood, history, and common destiny among Arab countries."
The statement continued: "Believing in the importance of joint Arab action to maintain the security and stability of Arab states and to cooperate and integrate in all fields, and affirming the importance of adopting a unified strategic vision in addressing challenges and the requirements for sustainable development for the good and benefit of Arab peoples, and recognizing the strategic importance of the Arab nation in the global arena, and its economic potentials and human resources, and the need to create conditions to enhance cooperation and build economic partnerships and achieve comprehensive development based on mutual interests and reciprocal benefits, which meets the aspirations of our Arab peoples and achieves growth and prosperity, and in order to maintain solidarity, support, and cooperation for a collective response to the current circumstances, and reinforcing the importance of communication and collaboration to enhance the collective advancement of our countries in all areas towards a safe, stable and prosperous region that meets the interests and aspirations of its peoples, we, the leaders of Arab countries gathered:
1. Express our condolences to the State of Kuwait and its brotherly people on the death of the late Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the late Emir of Kuwait, may God have mercy on him, and congratulate His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on assuming the leadership in the State of Kuwait, wishing him success and prosperity and the people of Kuwait good, growth, and prosperity.
2. Express appreciation for the good efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during its presidency of the 32nd Arab summit and the noble efforts it has undertaken to unify efforts, support joint Arab action, enhance regional security, and defend the interests of Arab states and their peoples.
3. Confirm the importance of the continuation of the joint Arab-Islamic ministerial committee in its efforts aimed at stopping the Israeli aggression on Gaza and ending the humanitarian disaster faced by over two million three hundred thousand Palestinian citizens, and mobilizing international support for the Palestinian people's right to live in safety and security and freedom in their independent sovereign state on their national territory. We thank the committee for its efforts on both regional and international arenas, while expressing our appreciation for the efforts of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in preparing and organizing the 33rd summit.
4. Confirm the necessity of an immediate end to Israeli aggression on Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from all areas of the strip, the lifting of the imposed blockade, the removal of all obstacles, and the opening of all crossings to allow adequate humanitarian assistance into all areas, and to enable UN organizations, especially the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), to operate freely and safely, and to provide financial support for them to carry out their responsibilities safely. We reiterate our firm rejection of any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian people from their land in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. We call for urgent measures to ensure an immediate and permanent ceasefire and to end the aggression in Gaza, provide protection for civilians, and release the hostages and detainees."
The statement confirmed: "In this context, we strongly condemn Israel's obstruction of efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and its continued military escalation by expanding its aggression on the Palestinian city of Rafah, despite international warnings of the catastrophic humanitarian consequences. We also condemn the Israeli forces' control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing to tighten the blockade on civilians in the strip, which has halted the operation of the crossing and the flow of humanitarian aid, depriving the people of Gaza of their main lifeline, and we demand that Israel withdraw from Rafah to ensure safe humanitarian access."
Thus, the proceedings of the Arab summit in Manama concluded, with Iraq set to host the next summit in 2025.
