Chad's electoral authorities announced that the country will witness its first legislative elections since 2011 on December 29, 2024. This election will take place eight months after the presidential elections that concluded a three-year transitional period. The head of the National Election Management Commission, Ahmed Batchiriet, stated that "the legislative, local, and municipal elections will be held on December 29, 2024." He added that "the upcoming series of elections is of great importance, as it will allow us to definitively close the chapter on the transitional phase." The last election for the National Assembly took place in 2011. The renewal of the assembly was scheduled for 2015 but was postponed due to a constitutional law extension, then delayed further due to "terrorist threats," followed by financial difficulties, the COVID pandemic, and finally, the transitional phase.
