Social media platforms were abuzz with a video showing a dog wandering inside the corridors of Al-Sadr Hospital in Qena Governorate, Upper Egypt. This prompted the health directorate in the governorate to respond and make decisive decisions regarding the incident.
The Qena Health Directorate announced the referral of the work team, security and cleaning supervisors, the on-duty manager, and the hospital assistant for investigation regarding the dog's presence in the hospital.
Ashraf Al-Sayed, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in Qena, confirmed that the incident occurred outside of morning working hours, during the night. Consequently, they directed the internal review and governance management at the health directorate to prepare an urgent and detailed report about the incident. All staff on the night shift, security and cleaning supervisors, the on-duty manager, and the hospital assistant have been referred for urgent investigation, with a call for the maximum penalty for anyone found negligent or responsible for the situation.
Moreover, the health directorate emphasized to the security company responsible for hospitals to appropriately redistribute security personnel within hospitals or health service locations. They urged citizens to promptly contact hospital management or health service locations if they notice any violations or negligence, or to submit complaints to the health directorate for swift action to address these issues.
