Syrian Parliament Members Take Oath Led by the Oldest Member

Today, Wednesday, the members of the Syrian People's Assembly took the constitutional oath on the first day of the extraordinary session of the fourth legislative term. The session was presided over by the oldest member of the People's Assembly, MP Mohammed Khair Diab Al-Mashi. In his opening remarks, Al-Mashi stated, "The fourth legislative term of the People's Assembly came as a result of fair elections under the supervision of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections and reflects our people's awareness and commitment to the directives of President Bashar Al-Assad." After the temporary president's speech, the members took the constitutional oath. On July 18, the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections in Syria announced the results of the People's Assembly elections for the fourth legislative term. The committee indicated that the voter turnout exceeded 38% and that the results reflect the broadest representation of the Syrian people across various sectors. A total of 1,516 candidates competed for 250 seats in the assembly, with lists of their names prepared and sent to all polling stations, which numbered 8,151 across all Syrian provinces.
