Sawiris Comments on Amr Diab Slapping Incident: The Fan Was Wrong

The incident of Amr Diab slapping a young man who tried to take a selfie with him during a wedding in Cairo sparked widespread reactions in Egypt. Amid supporters and opponents of "The Plateau," Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris expressed sympathy for Amr Diab but acknowledged that the artist was wrong regarding the young man.

Sawiris commented in a tweet on the video that spread rapidly, stating: "The fan pulled on his clothes to force him to take a picture with him. Some people lack manners and the reaction can be excessive, but the fan was wrong." He added, "Of course it was wrong... but you’re performing for people and suddenly someone pulls you back forcefully to take a picture... isn't that a lack of taste?"

A close friend of Amr Diab revealed that the artist was surprised by the audience's reaction to the incident, as he did not expect the video to spread in this way or for the incident to become a topic of public and social media discussion.

Meanwhile, the young man, Saad Osama, involved in the incident told Al Arabiya.net that when Amr Diab went on stage, he decided to be next to him. He indeed spoke to him and asked for a photo, and after several attempts, he decided to get his attention by tapping his back. He indicated that when he opened the camera to take a photo with him, he was shocked by the slap to his face and could not believe the artist's reaction.

He clarified that he had taken many pictures with several artists present at the event, including Mohamed Ramadan, affirming that he would not relent in seeking his rights from Diab.
