Arrest of Suspect in Theft Cases Promoting Illegal Substances

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces announced in a statement that "as part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to limit drug trafficking and promotion in various Lebanese regions, information was obtained by the Information Branch regarding an unknown individual promoting drugs in the Shweifat area and its surroundings. Following that, the specialized units began their field and inquiry procedures, and as a result of investigations, they identified the suspect as A. B. (born in 1987, Syrian), who has a criminal record related to theft cases.

On 22-5-2024, after careful surveillance and monitoring, one of the patrols from the branch managed to arrest him red-handed in the Shweifat neighborhood while he was promoting drugs on a "Sweit" motorcycle, which was found to be stolen from the Tariq Jdideh area. Upon searching him and the motorcycle, the following was found:

- 3 plastic containers containing a cocaine base weighing approximately 4.9 g each.

- 2 containers each containing 5.6 g of cocaine.

- 17 envelopes containing a cocaine base weighing approximately 0.9 g each.

- An envelope marked with the letter "P" containing approximately 2.3 g of cocaine.

- A sum of money and a mobile phone.

During the investigation, he confessed to the charges of promoting drugs in the Shweifat area and surrounding areas and also stated that he used drugs. Legal measures were taken against him, and he was transferred along with the seized items to the relevant authorities based on the judicial directive."
