Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, called for responding to Western sanctions based on the "an eye for an eye" principle, aiming to turn Western life into a "complete nightmare." This statement was made in a post by Medvedev on his official channel on the Telegram platform, where he noted that Russia has already learned how to live and develop under Western sanctions, which "are now measured in tens of thousands."
He urged for an urgent response to the sanctions, deeming it necessary as the United States and its allies "have declared an unrelenting war on Russia, and there are no rules regarding the enemy! They should receive back from us the full extent of the damage they have inflicted on Russia, with maximum pain."
Medvedev called for inflicting "as much damage as possible on those countries that imposed these restrictions on our country and all our citizens. This includes disrupting their companies and government agencies, finding problems in their most important technologies, hitting them mercilessly, and destroying their services in the areas of energy, industry, transport, banking, and social services," according to the news website Russia Today. This comes as the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on more than 300 individuals and entities aiding Russia in continuing its war efforts in Ukraine.
