The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division, reported that "as part of the daily monitoring conducted by the Internal Security Forces to combat crimes in various Lebanese regions, including illegal human smuggling, a patrol of the information branch suspected a gas tanker as it passed through the town of al-Baqi'a - Akkar." It stated that "immediately, the patrol conducted a tight ambush, resulting in the seizure of the mentioned tanker and the arrest of its driver, identified as F. M. (born in 1989, Lebanese), who had a prior criminal record for drug-related offenses. Upon searching the tanker, it was found to be professionally and innovatively modified to transport people instead of gas, equipped with fans for cooling and ventilation, and contained 9 individuals of Syrian nationality along with their baggage. They were all arrested for attempting to enter the country illegally. They were handed over to the relevant unit for legal proceedings in coordination with the competent judiciary."
