Iraqi Army: "ISIS" Has Militarily Ended

Iraqi Army:

The Chief of Staff of the Iraqi Army, Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yar Allah, announced today, Tuesday, that the "ISIS" gangs have been militarily defeated. While identifying areas where remnants of these gangs remain, he revealed the initiation of the construction of fortified barriers to prevent the remnants from reaching the provinces.

Yar Allah told the Iraqi News Agency (INA), “The ISIS gangs have ended militarily after the liberation of all the territories they controlled. However, ideologically, it is not just a terrorist organization; it is a doctrine present in areas that are difficult to access.” He pointed out, “To those who speak of the capabilities of the ISIS gangs, we say that these gangs are militarily over, but their remnants exist, and their members are being pursued everywhere, as the Military Intelligence Directorate provides daily information about these gangs and their locations." He highlighted that "F-16 aircraft are carrying out their missions against these gangs."

He stated, “There is no danger from the remnants of these gangs, and this will not cause worry among citizens regarding the potential return of these gangs.” He noted that "the remnants of ISIS operate in specific areas identified in the triangle of Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, and Diyala, which have been diagnosed, and we are undertaking duties in these regions to prevent any infiltration or advance of these remnants towards targets, whether they are civilian or military."

Yar Allah explained that "the Iraqi security forces have studied plans to approach the operational areas of the remnants of the ISIS gangs and have begun to establish strong and fortified barriers, which are considered like a wall preventing access to the provinces. We are gradually advancing into islands such as Nineveh Island and Anbar Island to deny ISIS any area that they could exploit, and at the same time ensure the Iraqi-Syrian border.”

He mentioned that "the fortifications are good on the borders, but we want to deploy sectors out of fear of attempts by some terrorist groups to infiltrate into Iraqi territory, especially from the direction of Syria towards Nineveh province."
