Israeli General: War on "Hezbollah" Means Collective Suicide

Israeli General: War on

Retired Israeli Army General, Isaac Brik, warned that declaring war on "Hezbollah" would represent collective suicide for Israel. In an op-ed published in the Israeli newspaper "Maariv," Brik stated that "the political and military level that brought Israel its greatest failure and catastrophe since its establishment on October 7 is about to do so again. But this time the neglect will be more dangerous, resulting in hundreds of thousands in a comprehensive regional war that will come upon us and destroy the State of Israel."

He viewed the initiative proposed by Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and Defense Minister Yoav Galant, with the approval of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, to launch a ground, air, and sea attack on Hezbollah as leading to a comprehensive regional war on six fronts. He emphasized that "thousands of missiles, shells, and drones will be launched at the Israeli home front every day," noting that "this initiative is collective suicide led by three individuals (Bibi, Galant, and Halevi) who have nothing left to lose, hence they are betting on the fate of the country and taking everyone with them over the precipice."

Brik added, "The same leaders who failed to overthrow Hamas in a small area of Gaza, because the ground army is small and cannot remain for long in the occupied territories due to a lack of surplus combat forces, thereby allowing Hamas to return to those areas after the Israeli army withdraws to reestablish itself. The same commanders in their decision to attack Hezbollah will throw Israel into a comprehensive regional war. Lebanon, Syria, the Jordanian border, an explosion in the West Bank, Gaza, and severe riots within Israel itself, not to mention Egypt, which is likely to participate strongly against us in a war if a comprehensive regional conflict erupts."

Brik warned that "our army is small, unable to win even in one theater, certainly not in six theaters at the same time. The Israel Defense Forces suffer from a severe shortage of resources, especially in the area of armaments, thus a full-scale war will bring catastrophe and destruction to Israel."
