New Heat Wave Hits Egypt

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority has announced that "the country is experiencing a continued gradual rise in temperatures by values ranging from 2 to 3 degrees in the northern regions up to Greater Cairo." Experts expect extremely hot weather during the day across most of Egypt, with hot conditions on the north coast, while temperatures will be warm at night in most areas and moderate on the northern coasts. Member of the media center of the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, Manar Ghanem, warned about the weather conditions for the upcoming week, as a heat wave is set to sweep the country. Ghanem pointed out that "the peak of the temperature rise will occur on Monday and Tuesday, with the maximum temperature in Greater Cairo reaching 40 degrees." She noted that "the new heat wave is a result of Egypt being affected by the extension of the Indian monsoon low pressure, along with very hot air masses passing over the Mediterranean Sea." According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, "temperatures will rise today in Aswan to reach 46 degrees Celsius, in New Valley and Abu Simbel to 44, while in Sharm El Sheikh it will reach 42, and in Greater Cairo it will hit 38, while Alexandria will record 32 degrees Celsius."
